Turing smart screen software: a custom panel on a USB screen

Turing and XuanFang screens are small USB displays that don't appear as Windows monitors. They receive images over USB serial, which is why they normally need their own vendor software. CLU VIEW can stream your dashboard to them directly.

⚠ Still in testing. USB smart screen output is an experimental feature. It works on many panels but not all firmware revisions behave the same, so expect some trial and error, and report anything odd in the Discord.

> Supported panels_

  • ■Turing 3.5″ and XuanFang 3.5″ & Flagship revisions
  • ■5″ and 7″ USB panels
  • ■Resolutions from 320×480 up to 600×1024, auto-detected on connect, portrait or landscape, with adjustable brightness

> Getting it running_

01  Plug the screen in and close any vendor software that might hold the COM port.

02  In CLU VIEW, enable USB smart screen output and use the TEST button to probe the COM port. It confirms which screen answered before you commit.

03  Size your canvas to the panel's resolution, build or import a layout, and start output. If the panel disconnects, CLU VIEW retries every 30 seconds, so replugging reconnects on its own.

> Design notes for tiny screens_

At 3.5 inches, restraint wins. A couple of large gauges and a temperature readout beat a dozen small widgets. Vertical panels suit the tower-style templates; the template packs include several narrow layouts you can adapt.
